Milestone Surgeries

50,000th Surgery

On March 4th, 2014, a handsome orange cat named Snarf was our 50,000th patient, receiving a gift basket of kitty goodies and his surgery for free. This milestone surgery occurred just one day after Northwest Spay & Neuter Center celebrated six years since the opening of our original clinic in downtown Tacoma, so the mood was extra festive as staff, board members, volunteers, and clients gathered to congratulate Snarf and his owner. Here’s to Snarf and to our next 50,000 patients — and beyond!

40,000th Surgery

On May 6th, 2013, Northwest Spay & Neuter Center reached another incredible surgery milestone — 40,000 surgeries since opening in 2008! The 40,000th surgery was performed on Honey; the first rabbit to ever be the recipient of one of our landmark surgeries. Honey’s family first came to NWSNC shortly after our new building opened to have their cat, Zoe, spayed. We were happy to see them back with Honey, and they in turn were thrilled to have their sweet bunny recognized in this amazing accomplishment.

1st Surgery at Northwest Spay & Neuter Center!

On January 7th, 2013, Northwest Spay & Neuter Center officially opened its doors for business! First in line was Rottweiler pup, Kai and his owner, Neal (pictured here with vet assistant, Jade). Kai was the first patient to receive surgery at Northwest Spay & Neuter Center and helped give us a great start to the thousands of additional surgeries we will perform in our amazing new facility.

30,000th Surgery

On June 19th, 2012, we celebrated the coming of summer by performing our 30,000th spay/neuter surgery since the opening of our doors in March, 2008. How fitting that this landmark surgery be performed on a Labrador/Pit Bull mix named B.J. (pictured here with the Humane Society’s Spay/Neuter Coordinator Carrie) that was available for adoption at our partner organization, the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County!

25,000th Surgery

On December 12th, 2011, Coalition: HUMAnE performed its 25,000th spay/neuter surgery since our opening on March 3rd, 2008. Chip was number 25,000 and received a gift basket; his mom Talisa received his surgery and services for no charge. On hand to help celebrate were members of our Board of Directors, staff, community partners, and other clients. Thank you to all those that have entrusted your companions to us, and those that have made this low-cost, high quality spay and neuter clinic a reality.

20,000th Surgery

Our 20,000th surgery was for Kristin, who brought in a sweet, little, shy girl named Milo. Milo’s family is in the military and adopted her in Hawaii last year before moving back to the mainland. They ended up at our clinic on a recommendation of a friend! Thank you Next to Nature for your donation of a gift basket for Milo.

15,000th Surgery

On January 19th, 2011, a striped cat named Bada Bing got her surgery for free — she was the 15,000th patient. Her owner, Tom, received a gift basket. “I was really surprised,” Tom said. “I got a basket full of cat treats and a lot of toys. She loves these little things.” Bada Bing’s visit was not the first one that brought Tom to the clinic. He has trapped several feral cats in his neighborhood and brought them in. But Bada Bing is his baby. “They’re really doing something that changes this area,” he said of the coalition. “We’re really fortunate to have them. I can’t say enough about the service they provide. They’re genuine, and you can tell they care.”

10,000th Surgery

On May 3rd, 2010, Coalition: HUMAnE performed its 10,000th surgery since opening on March 3rd, 2008! Lola was number 10,000 and her owner Cheryl received a gift basket (compliments of Next to Nature and FC’s Pawprints) as well as free surgery and services. On hand to help celebrate were members of our Board of Directors, all staff, some community partners, and many of our dedicated volunteers.
