Our New Clinic

Thanks to the hard work of many contractors, supporters, board, staff, and volunteers the dream of Northwest Spay & Neuter Center became a reality when its doors opened for business on January 7th, 2013.

Our new building, located at 6401 Pacific Avenue in Tacoma, boasts nearly three times the space of our old clinic and will allow us to perform up to 30,000 surgeries annually. We’re thrilled to have individualized rooms for owned and shelter dogs, owned and shelter cats, feral/free roaming cats, and rabbits, and an expanded lobby with separate dog and cat/rabbit entrances. Our state-of-the-art surgery suites are significantly larger and designed for maximum efficiency. And we aren’t the only ones who are excited…

Our clients have been quick to take notice of the easy clinic access, spacious lobby, and ample parking. Our high-volume rescue partners, such as the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County and the newly formed Auburn Valley Humane Society, can now pull inside our transport bay for easy transferring and safety of animals. The animals, too, themselves can appreciate the calm atmosphere in their quieter kennel rooms and the even lower risk of cross-contamination provided by our cutting-edge ventilation system.

Ribbon Cutting

Our new facility was officially welcomed to the neighborhood with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 25th. On hand to help us celebrate were many of our donors, construction sponsors, Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber members, media, and community partners. Local Pastor Melvin Woodworth, Executive Director Lorrie Kalmbach-Ehlers, City of Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland, and Chamber President Tom Pierson each said a few words about the tremendous accomplishment of Northwest Spay & Neuter Center, before officially cutting the ribbon. Ninja Bob was also present, of course, to show off his new domain to his many adoring fans.

This achievement marks an important milestone for the pets, animal lovers, and tireless spay and neuter advocates and professionals in the Pacific Northwest. If you haven’t seen the new location, we hope you’ll make time to stop by for a tour to see the incredible product of your support firsthand. Stay tuned for additional updates as we work towards developing a transport program to extend our reach even further into rural communities needing assistance bringing animals to our clinic.
